At that time, 19 years old Annie felt deeply in love with extraordinary hand oven mantas and ponchos, which all were made by hands and sold in the markets of Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Incas – real ancestors of Peruvians.  Annie soon started to collect those ethnographic textiles, also at the same time learning about the alpaca fibers, which are real heritage of traditional Andeans. After buying one of the traditional sweaters as a gift for her mother, and soon founding out about how everyone started to wish for something like that too, Hurlbut family decided to start importing a small range of sweater styles, which Annie designed herself, and produced in Peru. Her mother Biddy sold it from her home in Kansas. And this is how Peruvian Connection was born!
