5 Healthy Products Which Might Harm You if You Eat Them too Much

There are a lot of foods which have tons of benefits for our health. But as in every other place in the world and life, there is a certain limit, when even healthy foods can be harmful to your health, and that is when you are consuming them too much.

Here are some healthy products containing not only the good things, and which should be enjoyed in moderation.

Spinach

Spinach is an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. They are also delicious both raw and heat-treated, and they are rich in Lutein – an antioxidant that can help prevent future age-related vision problems. Unfortunately, spinach has lots of oxalate compounds which can form kidney stones. So people with kidney problems are advised not to consume these leafy vegetables. Similar oxalate quantities, by the way, are also found in rhubarb and beet leaves, so be careful with these two as well.

Canned tuna

Canned tuna is very suitable for salads or sandwiches, are delicious, healthy, calorie-free and ready to eat. However, tuna, like no other fish has a lot of mercury, which in large quantities is dangerous to health. Mercury can cause vision problems, impair hearing, speech, and coordination, and make muscle weak. For kids, it is better to avoid it in general.canned-tuna

How much tuna is too much? More than three small tin per week. It was found that canned light tuna has less mercury than other species. By the way, tuna can be changed by other seafood, such as salmon or shrimp too, because they have similar nutrition value like this fish.

Oranges and tomatoes

Although they are very healthy, rich in vitamins necessary for us, you should not abuse these products. Both oranges and tomatoes are a bit sour and can lead to reflux. Over time, this can result in inflammation of the esophagus, which is considered as a pre-cancer condition. This syndrome usually happened because of constant irritation of the esophagus stomach acids, when people suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease too.

So, during the day, you should eat no more than two tomatoes or oranges (or one orange and one tomato). But if you already suffer from reflux, it is recommended to refuse these gifts of natures in general.

Yogurt

Yogurt is rich in protein, calcium, and vitamin D. However, some types of yogurt are so full of various extra ingredients high in fat, sugar, and calories, that these yogurts’ nutritional properties are not much better than donuts. So yogurts with all sorts of flavors and synthetic additives are not useful to us, especially in larger quantities.

Use natural yogurt without additives or select Greek yogurt instead. Natural yogurt contains few calories and has more protein than regular yogurt. But if you want more flavors, just add a teaspoon of honey, a few seeds, fresh berries or dried fruit.

Fruit juice

The juice is associated with excellent health so many people just love drinking them in vast quantities. Sadly, it should be remembered that stores bought juice from the package are not so healthy. Usually, these are juice drinks and not real useful juice. And even if you drink fresh squeezed juice you make on your own, remember that fruits are high in sugar and calories, and many vitamins die during production.

In this case, take no more than a glass of juice a day. Or, even better, just eat the fruit which you wanted to use for juice, and you won’t lose any vitamins whatsoever.
