Highlights.com is a family-run business of two lovers who got to know each other in a college. A couple was always closely related to children, i.e. one of them was teaching at school, while another one pursued his Ph.D. in Child Psychology at Columbia University. Both of them (Myerses) enjoyed long and productive careers as teachers, lecturers and nationally recognized leaders in education and childhood development. Over a lifetime of study they have noticed that children must use and develop their creativity and imagination so that they grew up in respectful, kind and sensitive persons. They believed that each child has a great capacity to understand and absorb any information and remember it for a long time. Therefore, they have decided to invest into a magazine that they named Highlights which, from their point of view, includes only the best material for children. That is how the given magazine was born. The first issue of Highlights had a print run of 20 000 copies. The first and most important idea of the magazine was that children best learn through values by seeing positive examples in stories and articles. Highlights has remained its core values which are learning through innate creativity, curiosity, thinking ability and imagination until today.
